Will Weaver will be speaking on the Taste of Tayshas panel on Wednesday from 2-3:20. His book Full Service (Farrar, Straus, & Giroux) is on the 2007-2008 Tayshas Reading List.
1. Have you attended TLA before? If so, what advice do you have for new authors?
WW: No, but I have lots of great readers in Texas. I’ve been to schools in Houston, and next month (May 08) I’ll be visiting schools in Sinton and Hallettsville.
2. The theme for TLA 2008 is "Books, Bytes and Beyond". How would you describe yourself in 4 words?
WW: “Fiction Beats Video Games”
3. What is your preferred method of writing and why -- laptop, longhand, typewriter?
WW: Laptop, with my feet up and my head in the clouds.
4. What are you reading right now?
WW: YELLOW FLAG by Bob Lipsyte and some adult stories by John Updike
5. Movie you've loved in the past year
WW: SWEET LAND (a shameless answer, as it’s a feature film based on one of my short stories)
6. The perfect vacation is...
WW: On the beach, anywhere.
7. Which do you prefer? Zombies or Vampires?
WW: That’s not a hard choice—zombies for sure. You can spot them sooner, plus they really can’t run after you all that well.
8. Do you have a blog or website that you would like to share with us?
WW: check me out at willweaverbooks.com, and my link to motornovels.com, which is all about race cars. The first novel, SATURDAY NIGHT DIRT, has just been released. We (my publisher and I) also have a stock car (a real one!) that’s part of the novel series. See photos at motornovels.com
