TASL recently had a booth at the PTA conference held at the end of July. Thanks to Pat, Gloria, and Mary Ann who put everything together for the event!
Cindy Buchanan had the opportunity to share the databases and advocate their use. She reported that most PTA members were surprised when she said that there was no law that mandated school librarians. As parents become more knowledgeable about what is on the books as far as the law goes for school librarians, it is definitely a step towards them becoming advocates for school libraries.
Members of the Barton Hills Elementary PTA (Shirley Igo Award winners) came by and were thrilled to see the display about their support of the library. Several Texas PTA board members could barely contain their excitement about us being there and helping promote the SMART reading program as well as give the Shirley Igo Award.
